Hey dolls, sorry for going MIA! I took a quick break from Mindfully Sarah because  life threw me some chaos and curveballs all at once once; I just needed a moment to collect my thoughts and have some me time to decompress, be curious about my current state of wellness, and catch up to normal life (if normal is really is a thing).

I have so many competing priorities at the moment it’s been hard to stay focused: work, career development, relationships, time with family, health, weight stabilization, exercise routine, financial stress (aka taxes), and the list continues. However, I came across this quote recently and it was like the universe immediately quietened and I realized the amount of shame I’ve had around LETTING GO.

Shame is a web of unobtainable, conflicting, and competitive expectations around who we’re supposed to be. It distorts our vision and creates false realities. As Brene Brown says, “it corrodes the very part of us that believes we are capable of change.”

The reason I bring up shame again & again is because there’s a whole bunch of people out there feeling it in silence. We have to keep talking about this stuff with each other so we can all find freedom.

What’s something you tend to feel shame toward? And what would happen if you gave yourself permission and compassion instead?

  • Eating “too” much
  • Eating something “bad”
  • Body “imperfections”
  • Missed workouts
  • Speaking up or keeping quiet
  • Not completing your to-do list
  • Not getting the job
  • Delaying cleaning
  • Not measuring up
  • Forgetting
  • Needing “me time”
  • Needing support
  • Expressing emotions

Anyway, I’m rambling. But I’m back, and ready to move forward and really be consciously and intentionally compassionate, gentle, forgive myself, & curious within the next few weeks. Who is with me?!

  1. I’m totally with you! I’ve had to slow down my blogging lately as I’ve moved house and am now on a belated honeymoon … but life will resume normality soon! Welcome back. Katie x
